November travels

I know, it's the middle of December.... recent pics will be coming soon. Here's a slideshow from last month's photos. A few fun things around here and then our long trip to New Jersey and New York. Lots of quality time with Grandma Alice and Grandpa Bruce, as well as a few hectic days of running around to try to see everyone else! We spent numerous hours in the car, but it was worth it to see all of you! I was terrible about taking pictures on this trip - if anyone has photos of our time together, please send them my way! Jonah's highlights: the children's museum with his grandparents, getting his first pair of real shoes, seeing lots of Aunts and Uncles and cousins, getting to play with lots of his east coast friends, and eating tons of Thanksgiving foods!

Snow, Silliness and Scavenger Hunt

October flew by so quickly! It feels like Jonah's birthday was yesterday but it's now almost 2 months later. Enjoy the scrapblogs of our October snow and Halloween fun. On the evening of Halloween, Daniel (who wouldn't dress up), Jonah and I went to Daniel's old boss's house. They decorate their house so cute for the holiday! We are on their front porch in the picture. Then later on at night, I went to the annual scavenger hunt. This year was downtown and super fun! D' and Amy do such an amazing job planning it each year. About 50 people came this time, and our team won! The cash prize was a nice treat!
I had to take pictures of Jonah in that Big Cheese shirt because every week there is a "Big Cheese" in my kindergarten class. I think I'm going to blow up one of those pics and hang it on the bulletin board in my room. So fun!

Fall Festivities

Here's a scrapblog from our day of pumpkins. Alice, Daniel and I took Jonah to a local farm where we walked around, saw roosters, alpacas and a pig, and lots and lots of pumpkins.

Early this month, we had a fun night out at the Book Lover's Ball - put on by the Denver Public Library, who were clients of Daniel's at New Horizons. It was such an out-of-the-ordinary thing to do in Denver - a black tie ball! The food, drinks and dancing were lots of fun. We especially loved the smoke machine and hanging out with Melissa and Doug!
We've been doing lots of fun stuff with Jonah, including going to a local farmer's market where he got the most delicious apple cider in the world, and I carried him in the awesome Baby Ktan that I tie dyed myself! (I also tie dyed the tshirt that I have on in the picture with Gus - I have a new hobby!)
Other fun pics - Daniel and Grandma Alice took Jonah to "Outdoor World" where he saw lots of fish and apparently a moose! Jonah loooooves drinking from my water bottle. He gets very upset when I am having water and don't offer him a sip. And, some fun cousin time with Zoe, Quinn and Great Aunt Kathy. For those of you who don't live in Colorado and aren't on Facebook, here are some snowy pictures from this morning (yes, Thursday, October 29th!) with the huge snowstorm that came in. I am happily blogging because we had a snowday from school!

Remember me?

It has really been forever since I last posted pictures. Hopefully you all didn't forget what Jonah looks like :) Here's the update on life in Colorado this September:
We have had a really busy month. I tried to put just a couple of photos from each highlight so the slideshow wouldn't take you an entire evening to watch!
So September started with a fun visit to Berry Patch Farms with Jill, Max, D', Elle and Beck. Then, another cooking date with Sondra, Leah and Kathy. We get so much done and I love having a freezer full of meals to cook!
Next was Julie's bachelorette party. We had a super fun girls night out downtown. Then Alice and Bruce arrived and were just in time to babysit Jonah while we went to Julie and Max's wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony and Julie and Max were just glowing! We had so much fun dancing the night away!
The next day we went to Colorado Springs to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Jonah started really waving this day, so perfect timing to wave to the animals! Daniel and I got to try out his new backpack carrier, which everyone loves! Jonah was really funny with the giraffes - he didn't seem to love them, but didn't cry either. We'll have to see if he's happier to feed them next summer! At the zoo we saw tons of animals, and Grandma Alice took Jonah on his first train and carousel rides.
The following week was Jonah's first birthday. We celebrated the day before with Kathy, Leah, Andrew, Zoe, and Quinn. We had pizza and Jonah tried carrot cake for the first time. See the pics and videos - it was a hit! (I had issues with the second cake video, it's down below the slideshow, make sure to watch as it's quite funny!)
Next we celebrated Rosh Hashana and then Alice and Bruce left to go back to NJ. Jonah went for his 1 year checkup where we discovered that he is a healthy boy - 22lbs and 32 in. His eczema is looking awesome!
Then we celebrated Jonah's birthday again at Girls Night. Jonah got to stay up a little late and hang out with the ladies. I made a Rosh Hashana meal for my friends and everyone gave Jonah fun presents that he loves :)
The following weekend was Daniel's birthday. We went to a mid-afternoon meal with Jonah too and he went NUTS in the restaurant. Oh well. It was not the relaxing birthday sushi meal that Daniel was hoping for. Life with a baby! Then we went into the mall to this play area with huge models of food for kids to play on. Jonah LOVED this so much. We could have stayed there all day if it was up to him.
The next week I had surgery on my finger (apparently I had a tumor on it, but it's fine now!) so that was no fun, especially taking care of Jonah and teaching kindergarten with a sore, swollen finger. But my stitches are out and now I just have a bandaid over it so hopefully it will be feeling fine soon.
Since then we haven't had anything too exciting go on... just going with the flow! More pictures to come soon!

Here He Goes!

Jonah didn't need long before he realized that carrot cake is GOOD! We loved watching him celebrate his first birthday. Enjoy part 2 of the cake video series :) It's kind of long but it's worth it...well at least I think so!

I'm off from school, which means even more time to explore Colorado and have some fun! First, enjoy this video of Jonah's latest pasttime - making a huge mess!!!

Other Jonah news - his birthday is in less than three weeks... we can't believe it! Time has flown so quickly. Enjoy the scrapblogs of our day at the zoo, as well as the slideshow of pictures. I have had lots of weekend fun - first going up to Breckenridge with my friends Amy, Jill, Katie and D' (and Jonah loved hanging out with Beck and Ruby!) and then camping up in Rifle with Melanie, as well as seeing Xavier Rudd and Yonder Mountain String Band at Red Rocks.

The latest adventures...

We have been very busy over here -- Jonah is crawling all over the house now! He's also pulling himself to stand on anything available and loving "walking" while holding our hands. He is still a pretty laid back guy, usually happy and friendly towards whoever he meets. Babbling all the time still, Jonah will surely say his first words sometime soon. Fun, fun, fun!

Jonah's latest:


We are having tons of fun watching Jonah grow and explore his world. He gets around very quickly now with the commando crawling, and he's occasionally crawled on his hands and knees for a few seconds before plopping down on his belly. He is pulling himself up on things to try standing, and swimming is still his favorite activity. Jonah is "talking" up a storm - usually mamamamama and dadadadada and bababababa, but we don't see him connecting these sounds to anything just yet. He's working hard at learning to wave hello and goodbye. He finally loves reading and looking at books! I'm still making homemade food for Jonah but he enjoys "chewing" more now (3 teeth now, 2 more about to poke through!) so less pureeing and more finger foods on the menu. His new favorites are pasta and cherries (not together!)  Jonah's skin is much better - but for those of you I didn't tell - turns out he's allergic to dogs!  I think the eczema flares up when he is exposed to dogs, which explains why it got so bad in NY - Angel is going to have to steer clear of Jonah - should make our visits quite interesting!   Luckily he doesn't seem to have much of a reaction to Gus!



Daniel and I had a real treat - we got to go up to the mountains alone while Jonah stayed with Grandma Alice and Grandpa Bruce. We went whitewater rafting on Clear Creek, visited a local Colorado winery, had a delicious dinner in Idaho Springs and stayed at a beautiful bed and breakfast in Georgetown. We really packed a lot into just over 24 hours!

A couple of other random pictures - I went to my only Rockies game of the season with my friend Rebecca. Great seats!! And Jonah spent some quality time playing with Zoe and Quinn while Leah, Kathy and I did some serious cooking for the freezer!

Next up - a visit from Uncle Ken, Aunt Jayme and Rob for some Phish at Red Rocks! We can't wait - pictures to come soon :)

Getting ready to Groove

Jonah is all set for the Phish shows later this month - here he is trying on his hearing protection! And... drumroll.... Jonah is finally starting to get around other than rolling! Check out the funny video. We'd better get those baby gates up quickly!

Jonah loves to swim!

Jonah can't get enough of the water! We went swimming 4 times this past week! He loves to splash, kick and doesn't seem to mind (too much) when we dunk his head under! Enjoy the pics and video :)

Birthday Bashes

My 30th birthday was a week-long event for me! Here are all the pictures I have. I would love some more surprise party photos from anyone who might have taken some...? Especially of my surprised face - I've got to see that!!!
Anyway, I had a fabulous birthday with more friends, laughs, food and drinks than I could have wished for!! It was awesome, and Daniel did an amazing job planning and pulling off my party. I was truly impressed!
