Rachel's Visit

My sister Rachel left today (boo hoo) after 5 days of seeing the sights, snow, and becoming Gus' new best friend. We did tons of fun things, including TWO games of Clue! Yay! After her insanely long train ride, we relaxed and then went to play trivia with Kim and Lou. Good thing we were there or they wouldn't have known that Widespread Panic was from Athens, Georgia (nice one Daniel!) or gotten the Aqua Teen Hunger Force question right (go Rachel!) The next day we met Melanie for snowshoeing (which turned out to be hiking because there was barely any snow!) Gus had a blast. Melanie was so hot she had to strip down to shorts.



























That night Rachel and I were off to the Pepsi Center for a hockey game. She had to go being the huge Islanders fan that she is, but unfortunately the Avalanche won 2-1. At least Rachel got to see a game go into overtime for the first time! Her next goal is to see a shootout. Luckily there were a bunch of Islanders fans at the game and we didn't get booed as I feared!


































We headed over to our new favorite sushi restaurant, Sushi Katsuya, for dinner on Sunday. Daniel recently built them a website (click on the link to check it out.) Since the website is so amazing and they are eternally grateful, they bombarded us with free (and delicious) food all night. It was a bit intense. Our stomachs could barely keep up and we practically had to roll out of there. YUM!















































Rachel and I went out to Golden for the Coors Tour on Monday. The weather was awful so the place was empty! No lines! Yay for free beer. We both loved the Blue Moon and the Harvest Moon (2/3 Blue Moon, 1/3 Killians Red!) Delish!




















On Rachel's last day, we drove up to the mountains to get some real snowshoeing in. The drive was a bit treacherous but we made it. Again, this was Gus' highlight of the visit! He loved running back and forth on the snowy trail. He wore himself out and slept the whole way home. That night we went to Blossoms of Light at the Denver Botanic Gardens. The pictures don't do it justice - so pretty! Now Rachel is off to Sacramento (34 hour train ride - oy vey!) for the next part of her cross-country journey!
